Casa Navidad (Christmas House) is a fantastic 19th Century village house - charming, eclectic, beautifully restored - lovely accommodation and the best bargain in Alhama! The delightful, sunny double height sitting room has a traditional sloping beamed ceiling, an elegant Moroccan banquette with stacks of comfy cushions, two armchairs, antique terracotta floor and a woodburner for those chilly winter evenings.
A flight of stairs leads up to the wooden mezzanine; tucked under the eaves, this cosy space houses lots of books, DVDs and CDs.
A couple of steps up from the mezzanine, the terrace has a bbq, two loungers and dining table with chairs for al fresco dining as well as lovely views over the rooftops of Alhama and the surrounding hills.
There are two comfortable, pretty double bedrooms both with traditional beamed ceilings. Please note that there is only partial sound proofing between the two bedrooms. Please ask if you've any questions about this. The hand-crafted kitchen is modern and stylish and well-equipped for your stay with lots of essentials including teas, fresh coffee, local olive oil, herbs/spices, dried foods and we will leave you a lovely welcome pack to help you settle in and enjoy your holiday.
Casa Navidad has all mod cons including: fans for the summer, extra heaters and firewood for the winter, free wi-fi access 10 Mb/s, a washing machine, four ring gas hob, electric oven, juicer, instant hot water, linen and towels, etc. The casa is on 4 levels and there are handrails and two way lighting on all stairs. The bathroom is either one or two floors away from the bedrooms. Please ask if you have any questions about this or accessibility in general.
Two doors away from a great little deli/supermarket and only five minutes walk to the centre of historic Alhama and it's stunning limestone gorge, Casa Navidad is very well placed. You'll find lots of useful information in the house including maps, information about the local cuisine, best bars/restaurants, opening times, bus times and even some useful vocabulary to ensure you feel right at home.
If you're travelling with a larger group you can book Casa Navidad together with Casa Esquina which is next door - together the two houses sleep up to eight people.
We can put you in touch with someone local who does airport pickups if you don't fancy driving - and there's plenty of on street parking by the house if you do.
There are some great options for going for a refreshing swim in the summer months. In the town of Alhama itself there is an outdoor pool with a lovely shaded/grassed area and a little bar. Less than 10 minutes drive out of town brings you to Pato Loco (Crazy Duck) which is a great rural restaurant with a swimming pool where you can relax and while away the afternoon. The Rio Alhama, in the gorge, has a number of delightful swimming holes. Gorgeous Lake Bermejales is a great place to swim as the water is cool and fresh; delightful after lunch and sunbathing on the shores.
